its probably rotting. stuff goes black when it rots
i would say thats pretty cool... it might be a change in her diet or exercise... for whatever reason her hair melanin in her hair follicles is being re-stimulated

Well, maybe she is reverting back to her youth. What on earth is she worried about? If it happened to me, I'd be delighted :-)
did the doctor recently change any of her medication? that would do it.
