my friend,14, suffers from severe migraines. She has only been at school 2 or 3 times this year. it is soo bad she can barly even go outside. She has just started pain management classes still no one knows what is causing it. Is there anyone else that has been through this and might know what is causing it and or have anyways of lessening the pain. i don't want to see my friend spending the rest of her school years stuck in a dark room. HELP!Migraines! Help!?
try a chiropractor. Maybe she has a pinched nerve. I had them for years and took all kinds of drugs for them but to no avail. Now I don't get them at all.
There is a new development in migraine therapy:

Me too. Recently I've had them almost cease. I was having them almost every day and now they have went down to a few a month.
The one thing I think that has made a difference, is the "rebound" affect. You get that from caffeine as well as meds you may take. There's even a book out about this. You should stop all meds, and gradually cut down on your soda. Or if you go cold turkey, expect a few days of pain. Same with meds. Suffer through without ANY meds and when it goes away, you may see a difference. Try suffering through your next 2-3 headaches without taking anything and see if this helps. I honestly believe this helped me.
Another idea. Make a food allergy chart. When you get a headache, jot down what you ate 30 min- 1 hour before. See if theres a pattern. Watch ingredients in your food such as wheat, which is also related to asthma and itching.
"Head On" helps when you do have pain and have to get through something like class or work. I dont think it has the rebound effect, not sure. But its better than popping pills.
Good luck!
