Yes they will try and get you an appointment with a female doctor if you request it.

Yes you can ask for a female doctor.just keeptrying to get through to them.
For an appointment at my GP you have to turn up early in the morning as they open!
Don't phone go in person, demand a female doctor, but if you are so bad just go to A & E, tell them about your illness/complaint, and if they ask why you have gone to them explain that you can never get in touch with a doctor in your area, and you are sick of trying.......
